KG-IFA DRAWS WITH GERMAN 3rd LIGA SIDE CHEMNITZER FC 2-2

A late fixture had been add to the KG-IFA professional training camp program after German professional 3rd Liga side Chemnitzer FC had their friendly cancelled by a professional Turkish club and we accepted their invitation for their replacement match yesterday late afternoon. After a four hour journey into Stangl 32, Ulrichsberg, Upper Austria, KG-IFA players test players stood up-to a very strong physical professional outfit. KG-IFA showed excellent team defensive display to match them in all aspects in the 90minutes.

Chemnitzer FC in the early stages came out of the blocks moving the ball very quick and having create a few chances earlier on was an able to take advantage. The host took the lead in the 26 minute of the match with a whipped free-kick from the left, going directly into the far post with KG-IFA goalkeeper mistiming the flight and speed of the ball.

We continued to press and hold a solid defensive display although the host had much of the ball we stay solid as a team and dealt with aerial balls and kept probing holes in the Chemnitzer defense on the counter attack. Our goal came in the 36mins after excellent work down the right side to find South Korean Yuneui LEE racing through to slot past the on coming keeper to equal the match 1-1. There were frustration seen on the host coaching staff.

After the interval we continued where we started off, being solid in all departments. KG-IFA made change to keep the team solid. We took the lead in the 56 min after excellent work around the box and striker being hauled down by the Chemnitzer defender. Striker Amara KONATE coolly slotted away the penalty to go 2-1 up. Chemnitzer started to put more pressure on to get back into the game and they manage to get a goal from final 10 mins with a KG-IFA giving the ball in a dangerous area and excellent delivery into the box their striker having a free header to equalize 2-2.

It was a great game with lost of physical battles and we proved we were more than capable of competing with a 3rd Liga German team.

Our next match with be with Czech premier side team FC Banik Ostrava(B), Stadion Bazaly, Ostrava, KO- 11:00 am, Saturday 18th July, 2015
